Pemba Projects
Pemba Trees Project
Realizing the need to alleviate pressure put on the marine environment through fishing, Pembans are planting their own forests to create new economic opportunities while benefiting the environment. Since the project began in 2006, 14 rural communities have worked to plant over 300,000 trees in Pemba.
Pemba Research Nursery
In order to improve tree propagation methods and diversify species grown in the Pemba Trees project, CFI has developed a research nursery. Featuring a seedling pod press and an array of fruit and timber species, the nursery pilots new techniques prior to implementation at the community-level.
Global Schools Link
Schools from Pemba connect to Canadian students to share the ways they are helping combat climate change. Global Schools Link empowers youth locally to make change globally by connecting individual efforts to a global network of similar initiatives.
